About My Blog

This is an experiment, an attempt at sharing my wide ranging research on the history of the Hudson’s Bay Company — from my keen interest in the HBC’s late 17th century beginnings to its transformation from fur trade to retail in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  It builds upon almost twenty years of research I have done as an historical interpreter, as a graduate student, as a university instructor, and as an historian with Parks Canada.  I will keep you up to date on my latest projects and on the little tidbits which I come across.  Your comments, questions, and feedback are most welcome!

The above paragraph was written more than ten years ago, when I optimistically started this blog in 2010. However, the early weeks of activity gave way to years of neglect. There have been both personal and professional reasons why blog posting was far from my mind over the last several years (buy me coffee and I’ll tell you all about them). But here I am, restarting this experiment in 2021 and asking once again for your support. If it helps, think of me as having taken a very long sabbatical, and I am full of interesting things I learned on my travels. Am I older? Much! Am I wiser? I’ll let you be the judge of that.
